[HUFS] 'Korean as a Foreign Language & Translation' for International Students

Today we’ll check the admission guidelines for KFLT in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

 

 

 

 

KFLT is a short form of Korean as a Foreign Language & Translation.

And Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is usually called HUFS in short.

As we can know by it’s name, the university teaches more than 40 foreign languages.

It also contains studies in humanities, social science, natural science, engineering, etc.

 

There are two campuses in HUFS: Seoul Campus and Global Campus.

Global Campus is located in Yongin, Gyeonggi.

And KFLT(Korean as a Foreign Language & Translation) is in Seoul Campus.

[Eligibility]

 

1.     Master’s Program

• For those having successfully completed a Bachelor`s degree or expected to to earn one

 

2.     Doctoral Program

• For those having successfully completed a Master`s degree or expected to to earn one

 

3.     Language Proficiency

 

One of the following:

• Korean Proficiency Test (TOPIK) of level above 3(must submit above 4 before graduation)
• English Proficiency Test (TOEFL CBT 197, iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, FLEX 550, TEPS 600(NEWTEPS326) or above)

※ If you submit TOPIK Level 3, you must submit TOPIK Level above 4 before graduation

※  Score should be valid by the last day of application

 

 

 

 

[Scholarship]

 

1. HUFSan Scholarship

• Eligibility: Graduates of a HUFS undergraduate program with a GPA higher than 3.5/4.5
• Amount: 100% tuition waiver for 2 semesters
• Disqualification: Failure to maintain the GPA over 4.0/4.5 for each semester

 

2. Entrance Exam Excellence Scholarship

• Eligibility: In-coming graduate students
• Amount: 50% tuition waiver at your first semester

 

3. Academic Excellence Scholarship

• Eligibility: Registered students
• Amount: KRW 1,400,000 for one semester

 

4. Departmental Assistant Scholarship

• Eligibility: Registered students in departments where there’s no HUFSan Scholarship recipients
• Amount: KRW 1,600,000 each semester

 

5. International Student Scholarship

• Eligibility: Students with a foreign citizenship
• Amount:

 (i) Master's program

 -Humanities and Social Science divisions: 50% tuition waiver for 4 semesters

 -Natural Science and Engineering Divisions: 100% tuition waiver for 4 semesters

(ii) Ph.D. program: 100% tuition waiver for 4 semesters

※ If the average GPA for each semester is less than 3.5, the payment will be stopped.

 

6. Overseas Koreans Foundation Scholarship

• Eligibility: Students admitted through recommendation by the Overseas Koreans Foundation
• Amount: 100% tuition waiver for 4 semesters
• Disqualification: Failure to maintain the GPA over 3.0/4.5 for each semester

 

7. Other Scholarships

• Other scholarship opportunities include Student Leader Scholarships and HUFS-GS Administrative Assistant Scholarships.

 

 

 

[Fee]

 

1.     Application Fee:

• Master’s Program: 90,000 KRW
• Doctorate Program: 95,000 KRW

※ Additional Internet Application Charge(5,000won)

 

2.     Admission Fee: 1,070,000 KRW

3.     Tution Fee: 4,436,000 KRW

 

※ The amount of the above can be changed by the regulation of HUFS Graduate School
